I chatted with a good friend recently who told me she read a book that talked about shame “gremlins”. The connection was we are shamed into doing things to keep up a persona. I don’t want to let them down, I don’t want to appear weak, I m not lazy. All these can be considered shame “gremlins “. If we don’t feed into them they won’t grow into terrifying monsters we can’t control and ultimately lead the demise of our health. Respecting our limitations is not only smart but safe. Denial can be a danger in the case of chronic illness. It can cause us to push beyond our limits to please ourselves or others. Be comfortable in your new skin, take care of yourself in to be the best you that you can be.
Absolutely! Becoming a people pleaser is a dangerous road to take
